I thank and appreciate Alex for stepping in on the blog; her gift of writing and truly seeing what an audience wants is humbling.
Woke up today with the same side effects as Monday. Lamaze, nausea, dyspnea, and honestly like a gorilla was sitting on my upper body. Probably from the workout I surely over extended on Sunday. Was feeling good with the rescue drugs and didn't utilize prudence, rather immature arrogance won.
Today, however was much better than yesterday. I was able to talk candidly with the cleaning ladies, share common stories of "C" and how many it effects. Sweet woman with good souls. Alex and I, or rather the majority was Alex, put multiple items together to assist them with their current move to a 3 bedroom house that is empty. We have plenty and philanthropic endeavors are key in Alex's life.
Well as my day rolls to a slow end, I receive an email from Alex requesting my opinion on helping in saving two rescue puppies that were on the euthanasia list tomorrow. Alex's name and reputation for accomplishing the impossible seem routine in the doggy rescue world is growing exponentially. She obliges, goes to the rescue then the vet with dogs that requires professional attention and she returns home after 9. She's been tending to these couple week old pups needs since being home in between kisses from me. If she didn't jump in they would have received the formula that puts them to sleep. Truly a caring, sweet and endearing woman. I'm lucky.
I won't lie it is a tough disposition to be overwhelmed by anything or anyone, but my reality is that. My last round of chemo back starting in Germany in 2010 while still in the Marines on deployment was easy comparitively. One day for 6 hours with no overnight stays in the hospital. This go round as you all know from reading the blogs is 4-5 full days of chemo requiring inpatient status. I'm slowly accepting this will be a tougher road traveled, however my intent to set myself up for success remains steadfast.
I'm stoked about an upcoming trip to DC/MD in less then two weeks over the weekend of the 23rd of June. Some good ol' boys from high school that have seen me through every "C" battle and I are getting together for fellowship and lots and lots of golf. Probably some poker mixed in. We try to do it every year and its always a blast.
As for me the days and battles continue on. I hope all are enjoying the start of summer as us "Texans" have been met with the 95+ degree temps that are sure to stay through out it entirety.
After I took one of my steroids after much persistence from Alex, I began to feel much better. However, the one negative it restricts my sleep. Not to bad a variable when I'm not required to be awake earlier than 8 am.
Cheers,
Andy
The pic is of me on a John Deer tracker as I was mowing our backyard listing to Blake Owen's version of "Footloose". I love the song for its numerous meaning, but one in particular is live no matter your circumstance. Plus I like being a country boy:)
